Sail Away

Race 6: Monaco (29 Mei 2011)

Free Practice 1:
Schumacher          : 10th (1:18.805)
Rosberg                : 3rd   (1:17.139)

Free Practice 2:
Schumacher          : 7th (1:16.356)
Rosberg                : 3rd (1:15.321)

Michael Schumacher’s Thursday Quotes
“Our gap to the front seems to be less here than in Barcelona. With my crash this morning, we had made a set-up change for the run and I locked up braking for turn one. After that, my decision to go down the escape road was too late, which is why I hit the barrier. The mechanics did a super job and the car this afternoon was just as quick as this morning. What Nico showed in terms of one-lap pace looks good, and our long runs were also quite reasonable.”

Free Practice 3:
Schumacher          : 5th (1:15.310)
Rosberg                : 24th (No time)

Qualifying:
Schumacher          : 5th (1:14.682)
Rosberg                : 8th (1:15.766)

Michael Schumacher’s Saturday Quotes
“First of all, I am happy to hear that Sergio seems to be well, which is obviously the most important news. The incident reminded me a lot of what happened to Karl Wendlinger in 1994 and it shows the quality of the safety improvements the FIA have implemented since then, especially the side impact tests. As for my starting position, I benefited a little from the circumstances and probably P7 on the grid would have been more realistic. Having said that, our car looks better in race trim this weekend, so with another good start, I will try to make the most out of it. Overtaking is known to be more difficult here than at most other circuits, so it will come down to having the right strategy, especially because the tyres should last longer than in recent races and we can expect fewer stops. I think it will be an exciting race.”

Race:
Schumacher          : Retired (lap 33) Airbox fire
Rosberg                : 11th

Michael Schumacher’s Sunday Quotes
"Unfortunately, there are not a lot of positives we will be able to take away from this race. At the end, there was a fire inside the airbox and the car simply stopped, but the beginning of the race was not satisfying either. At the start, the anti-stall system suddenly kicked in which meant I had to re-do the whole starting procedure. Then I had a rendezvous with Lewis at turn one which left my front wing not working properly, so I lost downforce which also handicapped my tyres. That meant we had to stop much earlier than we had planned and, from then onwards, the race was obviously compromised. All in all though, the race was quite exciting, and I am happy that Vitaly Petrov seems to be well."

Find the Way

Race 5: Spanyol (22 Mei 2011)

Nyatanya strategi Michael terbukti berhasil.

Free Practice 1:
Schumacher          : 7th (1:27.016)
Rosberg                : 3rd (1:26.379)

Free Practice 2:
Schumacher          : 7th (1:23.981)
Rosberg                : 6th (1:23.586)

Michael Schumacher’s Friday Quotes:
“We have had quite a reasonable Friday and have clearly demonstrated an upwards tendency with our improvements seeming to work well. Saying that, the other teams have improved too, so without having had a chance to look deeper into the data, I would say that we may be fighting for the third row. We will continue to work further on our performance for tomorrow.”

Free Practice 3:
Schumacher          : 3rd (1:23.057)
Rosberg                : 6th (1:23.397)

Qualifying:
Schumacher          : 10th (No time)
Rosberg                : 7th (1:22.599)

Michael Schumacher’s Saturday Quotes:
“Unfortunately in Q3, my KERS system did not work but we reacted in the best possible way. We took the decision to go out on prime tyres to be able to react if other cars did the same. As no-one did, we came in without setting a time so we can now choose our strategy for tomorrow. I will certainly try to have another of the good starts that I have made recently, make up some positions right at the beginning, and take it from there. With DRS and KERS, overtaking is possible even in Barcelona, so it is important to use your tyres well, and I still have a set of fresh tyres left. I will definitely try to make the best out of it.”

Race:
Schumacher          : 6th
Rosberg                : 7th

Michael Schumacher’s Sunday Quotes:
“We managed to make the most out of our possibilities today which is good news, especially for our guys who I am happy for. I had a good start; going right through the middle was tight but fortunately it worked out. Then the race was about holding position from there. We can be happy with the result but other than that, it was just tricky with oversteer, tyre degradation and poor balance todewal with. Still we achieved what we could have, and I look forward to going to Monaco.”

High Voltage

Race 4 : Turki (8 Mei 2011)

“The big joy is not there right now,” demikian ungkap Michael pada BBC.

“There was lots of fighting and lots of action, but all for nothing,” demikian curhatan juara dunia tujuh kali ini pada media Inggris tersebut. “Mostly I was able to go forward but the big joy is not there right now,” keluh pebalap tersukses sepanjang sejarah F1 ini.

“When success is missing, then criticism is a fact of life. When a seven-time world champion like Michael Schumacher doesn’t achieve success, criticism rains down upon him,” ujar Haug pada Autosport.

“I understand why people expect the very highest level of performance from Michael and Mercedes, which is fully in line with our own targets,” lanjut Haug.

“We believe in our team, we believe in our drivers and we are working with calm and focus to achieve our targets,” tegas Haug mendukung pebalapnya.

“We started 18 month ago in our new configuration, and we’re competing in a very challenging environment. Like every other successful team before us, we need time to learn and develop,” lugas petinggi Mercedes tersebut.

Schumacher          : 3rd (1:40.132)

Free Practice 2:
Schumacher          : 4th (1:27.063)
Rosberg                : 2nd (1:26.521)

Michael Schumacher’s Friday Quotes:
“We had quite a positive Friday, and it was especially good that we were able to test both wet and dry tyres. I hadn’t really driven the wets so I’m pleased that I finally had some opportunity to use them. Also, my sessions were quite eventful with three spins in Turn 11. All in all, our car confirmed the performance improvement from China, so we can look forward to the rest of the weekend. We still have some questions relating to the set-up but I am confident we will sort them out tomorrow.”

Free Practice 3:
Schumacher          : 2nd (1:26.038)
Rosberg                : 4th (1:26.420)

Qualifying:
Schumacher          : 8th (1:26.646)
Rosberg                : 3rd (1:25.574)

Michael Schumacher’s Saturday Quotes:
“Understandably I am not happy at all with today’s qualifying. It was just strange, it seemed that the more I pushed on my last lap, the more went wrong. I was at the limit of what I had in my hand but the car was just sliding around and therefore I never got into my rhythm. It’s a real shame after this morning’s promising session.”

Race:
Schumacher          : 12th
Rosberg                : 5th

Michael Schumacher’s Sunday Quotes:
“A lot of fighting and action today, and that was probably the positive part of my race. Obviously I am not very happy with my weekend, but I’m responsible myself for the result. The incident with Petrov kind of dictated my race: we were very close and I was surprised that we touched but it was mostly my mistake. After making such an early stop, the way the race played out was given from there. What we can take away from this weekend in Turkey is that we have confirmed our good trend and we still have things to come to help us deliver more of our potential.”

Hit the Floor

Race 3 : China (17 April 2011)

Free Practice 1:
Schumacher          : 18th (1:42.301)
Rosberg                : 11th (1:41.361)

Free Practice 2:
Schumacher          : 5th (1:38.105)
Rosberg                : 4th (1:37.943)

Michael Schumacher’s Friday Quotes:
“We’ve had a good working day here during the first outings on the Shanghai track. We have changed our working approach this weekend, and I think this has paid off. We concentrated mainly on high fuel loads, and it seems we can find the set-up better than starting from low fuel. The long runs were good in my view which is clearly an improvement on the first two races. There is room for further improvement so I look forward to understanding what we can achieve in qualifying.”

Free Practice 3:
Schumacher          : 9th (1:36.141)
Rosberg                : 4th (1:35.667)

Qualifying:
Schumacher          : 14th (1:36.457)
Rosberg                : 4th   (1:34.070)

Michael Schumacher’s Saturday Quotes:
“What a shame for me today as we have clearly demonstrated this weekend that as a team we have improved a lot. Nico proved that strongly with his fourth place which was our realistic target. I didn’t quite get my lap together in Q2 and since then we have found out that my rear wing was not functioning correctly as I was braking into turn 14. I am obviously hoping to have a strong start and that we have good race pace tomorrow so I can hopefully make up some positions.”

Race:
Schumacher          : 8th
Rosberg                : 5th

Michael Schumacher’s Sunday Quotes:
“That was a lot of racing in one Grand Prix this afternoon and very exciting! I had a lot of fun this afternoon and I’m so pleased to see the hard work of our guys paid off this weekend. We have made a big step forward with our car and it worked very well. We are heading towards the first race in Europe now and will bring some upgrades to Istanbul which should help us to improve even more. It is good to leave Asia with a positive feeling.”
